The IEEE ICRC 2016 builds on a series of four exploratory Rebooting Computing Summits from 2013 through 2015, and seeks to expand the discussions to include a broader technical community. The conference goal is to discover novel methodologies to reinvent computing technology, including new materials and physics, devices and circuits, system and network architectures, and algorithms and software.

These new approaches are motivated by the scaling limitations of CMOS device physics, the cost of further advances in lithographic patterning technologies, and the energy efficiency demanded by the scale of future computing applications. The conference will bring together multidisciplinary researchers from academic, national laboratory and industrial organizations to present cutting edge results. The conference will also serve as a venue for the dialogue between the research community and policy makers to define research programs that meet the grand challenge of future computing.
